The city owes its name to the Alte Innbrücke, the bridge over the River Inn near the Altstadt, the oldest part of town. The bridge has existed since 1080.

Emphasize the Church of St Mary Immaculate, the Chapel of St. George of the nineteenth century and the ruins of an ancient fort, dating from the twelfth century. Also worth seeing Biedermann House, a restored house built in the sixteenth century and rebuilt in 1993 that stands out as one of the last traditional houses made entirely of wood in the country.
