The city hosted the Winter Olympics in 1972. Your TV tower is a symbol of the city and from there one can see the entire downtown.

Japanese culture raised the talent to remodel things to an art, as we demonstrated the ikebana and origami. Therefore, this great city could not resist this art and created a new concept of ice sculptures and snow, the Yuki Matsuri, the Sapporo Snow Festival. The city has managed to create their own winter festival, where every year thousands of people come together to view and create magnificent sculptures of snow and ice. One of the most popular and famous sculptures at the festival is the Pieta, which creates its own glow of snow and ice. Other sculptures repeated each year are the statues of famous people and places that shine in the snow. Some of these sculptures are so big that tour groups may enter quietly in a palace made of ice, and see statues of characters from the television. To this curious display are used more than 38,000 tons of snow and ice. The festival dates back to 1950, and other sculptors work for several weeks to create thousands of objects of ice before the festival begins in February.

In this curious city, full of all the possible sculptures made of snow and ice, a stroll through its vast parks and enjoy various winter sports. The city hosted the Winter Olympics in 1972 and therefore has many facilities for skiers and other sports. The curious can visit the Sapporo Dome, the sports palace which was built for the Winter Olympics.

Sapporo is also known for its flavored ramen noodles and miso, a delight to be tested in almost all its restaurants and its famous beer. One can visit the best restaurants at an affordable price and sample the best local delights or stroll through the largest entertainment district of the city, Susukino. It is also recommended to visit the breweries of the region where you can taste the beer in Sapporo.

Sapporo is a city famous for its many festivals, museums and theaters. One of the most important concert halls is the Concert Hall Kitara in Sapporo which is in the Nakajima Park, where the orchestra usually performs in the city. For the most massive concerts outdoors, as the Pacific Music Festival, is the Sapporo Artpark.

Museums also are an important part of the culture of the city. In this city include Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of Sculpture in Sapporo. There are also a multitude of museums dedicated to different schools of art and museums dedicated to literature or beer. The Sapporo Convention Center is one of the largest convention centers where they are organizing various forums and exhibitions.
