The place is clean, quiet, elegant, dignified, haven for the senses and pleasure for the spirit. That’s Menorca. That island that all travelers dream someday. This beach resort where, without being crowded by tourists, we take our car and get lost on the road, so from there, see a small cove, quiet and secluded, where to stay and enjoy the quiet that permeates the entire island and its immense and tranquil turquoise waters.

Menorca and was historically a refuge for many ships that traveled in the Mediterranean trade, but there was always the calm that has now. For location, Minorca, an island noted for its culture Talayotic, was on its shores Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Romans and Muslims. And it was after the treaty of Utrecht, in 1708, when passing to English hands, reached its peak, as endowed a large part of the image which today boasts, besides defensive fortification of was subjected to harassment usually due to piracy.

Menorca, in contrast to Mallorca and Ibiza, is much flatter, have very different scenery from the north and south. The north is more rural and is noted for its cliffs, black sand beaches, for its sea-green. The south, by contrast, is much quieter, whiter, more relaxed, with white sand beaches and turquoise waters of a spectacular. In the South is where we are the largest samples of the prehistoric culture that so many signs in the form of taulas and talayots, left around the island, which emphasizes, the shuttle’s Tudons, the most ancient monument in Europe.

And what better way to start the day at first light, taking to the streets of Mahon, so sober, so serene, and so peaceful. Put his hands in his pockets, and enjoy a quiet ride when life still has not made an appearance in the streets. Observe the first light reflecting off their white walls and clean. Enjoy great port, sleek, and of course, its baroque and neoclassical buildings, including City Hall, or the churches of the Conception, Santa Maria or San Francisco. And finally, walk the Calle Isabel II and do not let a detail of the facades of its stately homes.

A coffee in the streets, always with the relaxation that this island needs, and without a fixed destination, direct you to the car to wander through the island’s shores in search of the creek dream where you can enjoy a swim in good company .

Because it requires Menorca, having a car, and be ourselves, without any map, discover the many places that this island provides. Only 50 km which separates the east and west of the island? In fact, only 44 miles separates the two main towns of Ciudadela Mahon. And the most unique road to tour the Camí d’en Kane coming to Es Mercadal, leaving the sides still landscapes of stately white houses, with the foothills of the Tramuntana in the north and south plains Migjorn. And on the road, visiting the cemetery Alaior so secluded and beautiful, or Monte Toro, at 357 meters, we noticed a good vantage point to the island from its highest point.

But are we leaving the creeks right and left that focus our attention. No doubt some will find it meets our dreams, lonely and quiet. Sometimes it is better to walk near the coast to find, but still, the known are worth visiting because even though we can not be alone in it, retain its special charm. For example, the Cala Macarelleta is a real luxury. She can be reached only by foot from the creek Macarella or by sea. It is a small white sand beach, framed by low cliffs that protect and retain the view of tourism, and coming to rest the gentle waves of the Mediterranean. It is an oasis of peace. Son Saura, for example, is another cove almost inaccessible, with two small sandy beaches separated by thick vegetation. They say the site, which is the most beautiful beach across Menorca or Cala en Turqueta, whose pine trees reaching almost to the same sea.

The northern beaches, for example, are much more rugged and wild, with sea-green more and more steep ledges. Lined with cliffs, and what should not miss is Cape Favaritx, whose feet always breaks the wild seas. This place is part of the Natural Park of Albufera des Grau; the core of the Biosphere Reserve was nominated Menorca so a few years ago. Nor forget the visit to Cabo de Cavalleria.

And to finish the day, it’s best to watch the sunset at the port of Ciutadella. Enjoy a nice snack at the little bars on the promenade along the harbor at the foot of the ancient wall which overlooks the bastion of the Born and the City. The colorful and monumentality of the city becomes even more spectacular with the fall of the day. Its palaces, Italianized, or its great Gothic cathedral full of gargoyles are worthy of visit.

We need to close the day with a good meal, and what better to try the classic lobster stew and Mahon cheese with honey and rosemary. Fornells is the ideal place for a nice dinner along the coast. The fish soup, and, of course, the spicy sausage and meat i xua (sausage) are other typical elements of the cuisine of Menorca.

As you can see, Menorca is a place to spend a good time, since it combines the monumentality of its two main cities, Ciudadela and Mahon, Balearic Islands with the typical architecture of small towns, as Binibeca Vell, beautiful, with stunning beaches and a relaxed and healthy. Menorca is the gem of the Balearic Islands and one of the jewels of the Mediterranean.

The city is known for its great importance during the Industrial Revolution and for being the birthplace of the legendary Beatles.

Historically, the city was one of the most industrially advanced and socially. In this city there are various races, cultures and traditions through the centuries. One of the first “Chinatowns” or Chinatowns across Europe was founded in this city, when many Chinese seamen settled here during the nineteenth century. The gate that adorns the entrance to this neighborhood is one of the largest and most decorated.

This city is best known as the birthplace of the legendary British band The Beatles. The Beatles continue to attract thousands of tourists every year who want to see the city that saw the group evolve. The Beatles Story is located in Albert Dock, and is a museum dedicated to the four singers. Also, walking around the city, one can find thousands of details in honor of the Beatles, from museums and cafes to iconic photographs.

One of the most visited sites and a favorite of sports fans is Anfield, Liverpool FC Stadium, which was founded in 1892. This stage attracts millions of fans each year.

The city celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007. In 2004, several of the most famous monuments of the city, in the maritime and commercial city became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. These include Pier Head, Albert Dock and William Brown Street.

The Pier Head area on the shore is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, which is decorated with so-called “Three Graces,” three of the most emblematic buildings of the city on the River Mersey. It is part of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

One of these buildings is the Royal Liver Building, in 1911, is 90 meters high and was one of the tallest buildings in the city. This building is one of the most famous of the city, and is decorated with so-called “Liver Birds” Liver Birds, which have become a symbol of Liverpool. According to legend, these two birds watch over the city. In addition, the towers of the building are decorated with clocks of 7.6 meters in diameter, larger than Big Ben, and settled there so that the sailors could see the time to spend on boats.

Another of the most famous buildings is the Cunard Building, built between 1914 and 1917. The most curious of this building is its architecture, an interesting mix of Italian and Greek revival, and the elaborate sculptures that adorn their walls. Most of the building is made of marble and stands on its inherent design. Besides the building is the Cunard War Memorial, designed by Arthur Davis and dating from 1920. The monument consists of a large bronze statue atop a Doric column.

The other building which adorns the city is the Port of Liverpool building. This building also stands out for its architecture, Baroque style, decorated with a large dome. The entrance to the building, which overlooks the river, is decorated with two statues of two women, each representing trade and industry. It also highlights the marine theme and elegant wood and marble decorations. Also, here is the structure of a globe on top of two dolphins that represent Neptune.

This also highlights the dynamic city of Liverpool Cathedral. The cathedral is the fifth largest cathedral in the world. A 67 meter high bell tower is one of the highest worldwide. There are thirteen bells of the cathedral, known as the Bells Bartlett, who weigh more than 16.5 tonnes. Great George is the main bell, weighing about 14.5 tons, and the second largest, behind the bell of St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

The business district of the city is located around the Castle Street and Dale, and is filled with medieval streets. Here in Liverpool City Council, an impressive building dating from the late eighteenth century. The most modern city, full of music, art and culture, is located near William Brown Street. Emphasize the William Brown Library, Walker Art Gallery and World Museum Liverpool. The most beautiful building is the St. George’s Hall, a neoclassical building in the mid-nineteenth century, which is usually held several public events.

Bhutan’s streets are full of color. While men usually wear a dress called gho, like a tunic to the knees, the women wear the kira, a long dress and scarves are very important because they can see social status.

The dress of the citizens for important occasions or ceremonies driglam namzha governed by a kind of code created in the seventeenth century. This code also includes guidelines for formal occasions such as the construction aspects of the traditional dzongs or the celebration of religious holidays. During construction of dzongs, for example, do not allow the use of nails. Therefore, these architectural curiosities are the most recognized in the country.

The ancient capital of the Caliphate of Cordoba is now a city with many buildings and monuments of great cultural interest, some of them World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

One of the most important buildings and certainly significant of the city is the Mosque of Cordoba. The magnificent mosque, built by various emirs between eighth and tenth centuries, was partially destroyed, and in 1236 was rebuilt as a cathedral. But part of the original structure still stands, and is one of the best examples of the grandeur of architecture. From above you can see the old Arab and Jewish neighborhoods. In the territory of the former mosque is beautiful and refreshing the famous Patio de los Naranjos.

If one walks through the historic city will enjoy the history of several cultures that have blended into the city. Apart from the famous mosque, there is also the synagogue of Córdoba, dating from the fourteenth century. In this city we can find churches Fernandine and style of the thirteenth century.

Of the other culturally and historically significant buildings we can find the Alcázar de los Reyes Cristianos, the fourteenth century, the Viana Palace with its impressive courtyard, the sixteenth century, and the towers of Calahorra and Muslim and Christian periods. In this city also highlights the Plaza Vieja, sometimes known as the Plaza Mayor.

The old city is a great example of architecture from centuries ago, with its mosques, synagogues and churches, some large and ducal palaces. The city is also full of gardens, among which the Victory Garden and the Garden of Rivas Duc.

The city is situated on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, and nearby is an ancient Roman bridge. There are also several old mills that have survived until today, and many other ancient bridges.

Around town, you can find many statues of figures such as Seneca, Maimonides and many other philosophers and poets. Moreover, the Palace will find the statues of the Catholic Kings and Christopher Columbus. There are also the monument of Christ of the Lanterns and the Island of Sculptures.
