Rodeo Vacation in Mexico
August 3, 2010
The whole family is out of breath. For a second time stopped. The rider holds the reins tightly, or put his hat on his head. You could hear a pin drop. And suddenly, the spurs are stuck in the animal and a blast of powder is added to the cheers of the crowd. The raging bull dance begins with the rider. This is the spirit of rodeo. Many people enjoy it during your holiday, taking a memory impossible to erase.
In Mexico is known for this type of activity as “American-style rodeo.” It is part of the culture of the northern states (the most influenced by American customs).
The rodeo apparently goes back to the Spanish colonies, where wild horses calm down in circular pens called just “bush.”
Shortly after the taming of the animals became more and more a show of strength and skill by the riders. The animals entered the yard by a trap door that would not let go. There the bravest spent several minutes of pure excitement and adrenaline, until the animal was given up or, at worst; the riders were thrown to the ground.
Gradually the rodeo was regulating and organizing. The rodeo (and call it fact of mounting the animal to tame) was adopting the customs of each region, especially in Texas (a place famous for this practice). Today, rodeo is considered a sport and has spread throughout the United States.
Some sources indicate that among the 60”70””and”began to be popular in northern Mexico (of course, changed the manner of the region).
In that golden age emerged as big as George Paul Mayer. This Mexican-American descent became world champion. Another great is Arnulfo Flores Lerma, known as “El Guero Monclova, also well known for winning several tournaments in Mexico and the United States.
A feat performed by him, remembered by many, is the fact of riding a wild buffalo in the Plaza de Toros, Mexico.
A disciple of his, Ricardo Castillo, it seems he learned well from his master since succeeded, years later, becoming the first finalist of the Native American rodeo in Mexico.
Between 1980 and 1990 rodeos organized by major companies in Mexico, bringing light and color of the big shows where many people came. Entire families enjoy these events. Among the more significant were the midnight rodeos in Santa Fe or the Company Horns Chuecos Rodeos.
Thanks to promoting companies and other entities is considered today to rodeos and professional riders.
Two gladiators in the arena
Like a football match is involved, and with the same emotion on the part of the world, one commentator narrates each share of these modern gladiators are the horse, the bull and rider.
The riders are tired because they come from long way to go from city to city, to reach the site of the show. But it’s incredible skill and determination they have, time for action appear to those cowboys of the classic Western movies.
Have you ever seen the “Marlboro Man” in any advertising? It may seem super-exaggerated, but it is certain to witness a rodeo, live and direct all questions you out: the truth is stranger than fiction.
When the reporter called the rider into the arena and assigns an animal, the audience erupts in cheers and applause. Riders from other eras officiate as guardians “saves lives”, which should enter the field immediately if something goes wrong.
At that moment sings heroic rider. Everyone participates and, after completing their verses, the action begins.
The match was initially carried out under a cloud of dust and dirt, the bull is twisted with force, the rider struggles to stay on his back. Fixed on the animal, motionless as a statue, the minutes pass like hours.
A show not to be missed. Country music ends to give the ideal atmosphere to the event, filling the corners of the site.
And the fun and entertainment are not limited to dressage in itself but all around the corral is mounted a sort of fair where you can enjoy typical foods of the region, take souvenir of remembrance, to have fun, dance and a lot of things about this sport so special and exotic.
