Liverpool and the Beatles

Liverpool is one of the major cities of England. The city is known for its great importance during the Industrial Revolution and for being the birthplace of the legendary Beatles.

Historically, the city was one of the most industrially advanced and socially. In this city there are various races, cultures and traditions through the centuries. One of the first “Chinatowns” or Chinatowns across Europe was founded in this city, when many Chinese seamen settled here during the nineteenth century. The gate that adorns the entrance to this neighborhood is one of the largest and most decorated.

This city is best known as the birthplace of the legendary British band The Beatles. The Beatles continue to attract thousands of tourists every year who want to see the city that saw the group evolve. The Beatles Story is located in Albert Dock, and is a museum dedicated to the four singers. Also, walking around the city, one can find thousands of details in honor of the Beatles, from museums and cafes to iconic photographs.

One of the most visited sites and a favorite of sports fans is Anfield, Liverpool FC Stadium, which was founded in 1892. This stage attracts millions of fans each year.

The city celebrated its 800th anniversary in 2007. In 2004, several of the most famous monuments of the city, in the maritime and commercial city became a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. These include Pier Head, Albert Dock and William Brown Street.

The Pier Head area on the shore is one of the most beautiful parts of the city, which is decorated with so-called “Three Graces,” three of the most emblematic buildings of the city on the River Mersey. It is part of a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

One of these buildings is the Royal Liver Building, in 1911, is 90 meters high and was one of the tallest buildings in the city. This building is one of the most famous of the city, and is decorated with so-called “Liver Birds” Liver Birds, which have become a symbol of Liverpool. According to legend, these two birds watch over the city. In addition, the towers of the building are decorated with clocks of 7.6 meters in diameter, larger than Big Ben, and settled there so that the sailors could see the time to spend on boats.

Another of the most famous buildings is the Cunard Building, built between 1914 and 1917. The most curious of this building is its architecture, an interesting mix of Italian and Greek revival, and the elaborate sculptures that adorn their walls. Most of the building is made of marble and stands on its inherent design. Besides the building is the Cunard War Memorial, designed by Arthur Davis and dating from 1920. The monument consists of a large bronze statue atop a Doric column.

The other building which adorns the city is the Port of Liverpool building. This building also stands out for its architecture, Baroque style, decorated with a large dome. The entrance to the building, which overlooks the river, is decorated with two statues of two women, each representing trade and industry. It also highlights the marine theme and elegant wood and marble decorations. Also, here is the structure of a globe on top of two dolphins that represent Neptune.

This also highlights the dynamic city of Liverpool Cathedral. The cathedral is the fifth largest cathedral in the world. A 67 meter high bell tower is one of the highest worldwide. There are thirteen bells of the cathedral, known as the Bells Bartlett, who weigh more than 16.5 tonnes. Great George is the main bell, weighing about 14.5 tons, and the second largest, behind the bell of St Paul’s Cathedral in London.

The business district of the city is located around the Castle Street and Dale, and is filled with medieval streets. Here in Liverpool City Council, an impressive building dating from the late eighteenth century. The most modern city, full of music, art and culture, is located near William Brown Street. Emphasize the William Brown Library, Walker Art Gallery and World Museum Liverpool. The most beautiful building is the St. George’s Hall, a neoclassical building in the mid-nineteenth century, which is usually held several public events.
