Grenada Spice Island

Grenada is the most populous of Granada, a country in the Caribbean Sea. Most of the administrative centers, museums and monuments are located on the main island, divided into six municipalities. The island, known back then as Camahogne, was discovered in 1498, a few years after the discovery of America.
Centuries later, the same Cardinal Richelieu gave the order to found a new capital in the country, Fort Royal, which years later became the current capital St. George’s. The country, then known as La Grenade, was one of the largest natural harbors in the region and the islands were major exporters of sugar.
The capital is St. George’s, located on the island of Grenada. The city lies on the shores of a bay and overlooks a volcanic crater. The city dates from 1650. Some of the most important monuments of the island are located in this charming city. They emphasize the churches and cathedrals that were built in the nineteenth century, as the Anglican Church in 1825 and the Catholic Cathedral of 1818. The city has many buildings built in colonial style, among which the Parliament, the Senate and the Supreme Court.
There is a fort that was built by the French in 1705, the Fort George. The city also has a traditional market specializing in fresh local products and is always crowded. The Grenada National Museum has a large collection of artifacts and historical documents that tell the history of the country. Wharf Road is one of the main streets where there are a variety of restaurants, many specializing in seafood products fresh from the sea and shops. For athletes, this city is the Queen’s Park Stadium Stadium Complex, which was built in 2007 during the celebration of the Cricket World Cup.
Grenville is the second largest city and is located on the shores of the Bay of Grenville. The city is noted for its ancient church of England.
Sauteurs is a small city located in the municipality of Saint Patrick. It is one of the largest cities of Granada. The city has stunning views towards the Bay of Sauteurs. The city owes its name to the Sauteurs, jumpers, who were the Caribbean natives who chose to jump into the sea from a cliff 40 meters before being conquered by the French in 1651. In 1664, it created a kind of monument to his memory that can be visited today. The city has other historical monuments, such as historical or traditional staircase where each morning market selling fish and other fresh marine products. About Sauteurs are the best beaches, as Bathway, and several volcanic craters, such as Lake Antoine.
Gouyave is located in the municipality of St. John and specializes in fishing. This city was built on the nation’s largest pier in 1882. It is certainly the liveliest city across the country, and is known for its bars, restaurants and clubs. This city also hosts many festivals, carnivals and parties in general, so it has earned the name and reputation of the town partying.
One of the strangest holidays celebrated in Gouyave. The Fisherman’s Birthday is celebrated every June 29. Fishermen across the country gather in the city to participate in boat races and competitions, tastings and all sorts of activities. Every Friday, the city celebrates Fish Friday, and that day both tourists and locals can enjoy and taste the best seafood.
