Bern, the City of the Medieval Streets and Museums

Bern or Berne, is the de facto capital of Switzerland. This city is considered the financial and administrative center of the country, and noted for its variety of medieval streets and monuments and historic buildings.
Bern is the capital of the canton of Bern, one of the major population centers of the country. The historical center, or the Old Town of Bern, is listed in the list of World Heritage of UNESCO. In addition, according to several published studies, the city of Bern has one of the best qualities of life of the world.
The town lies just west of the center of the country, only about 20 kilometers from the Bernese Alps. Therefore, citizens enjoy amazing views of the mountains. The nearest mountains are mountains Gurteen, 958 meters high, and Banting, 947 meters high. For here too there is the old observatory in Bern.

Another site worth visiting is the Bundeshaus, Federal Palace, built between 1857 and 1902. Today this historic building is the national parliament, the government and part of the federal administration, and excursions are organized each year by.
Undoubtedly one of the most visited buildings is the Einsteinhaus, the house where Albert Einstein lived in the street Kramgasse 49, from the years 1903 to 1905. The house stands as a house museum with a variety of portraits both families as scientists of the time.

Bern is a city full of culture indeed. Among its charming cobblestone streets and buildings with decorated facades can find a variety of theaters, museums, galleries and monuments. The Universal Postal Union is also in this city, and the monument of Weltpostdenkmal decorates a garden city.
In Bern, take place every few months fairs and festivals of all kinds. Among the fairs, both local and visitors can enjoy the curious Zibelemärit fair, a large market of onions. BeJazz festival highlights, a great festival taking place in both winter and summer brings the best jazz artists. Other festival highlights include the Buskers festival or Gurtenfestival.
