Anguilla is an island in the archipelago of the Lesser Antilles. The island is surrounded by impressive coral reefs.
Anguilla is a small island whose economy depends largely on the tourism sector and the sins of locusts. However, several measures have been taken to preserve the culture and traditions of the island. Programs to maintain the culture of the island include native support for authors and methods to safeguard the history of Anguilla.
The native inhabitants of the island were the Taino Indians, and even today are still some relics of his people on the island.
Anguilla is filled during the holidays. For their local and national events, organized numerous festivals and occasions like the anniversary of emancipation become the Summer Festival.
The island is a popular destination for fans to relax and sun, as the avid divers who can dive and observe the marine nature and corals surrounding the island. Those who love sports such as sailing boats can also enjoy boat racing, the national sport, and sailing regattas are usually held during vacations or holidays.
In the southern part of the island there is a uniquely furnished hotel, Cap Juluca, a small oasis of luxury. Its restaurant, Pimm’s Restaurant, is well known throughout the islands.
Shoal Bay is the most beautiful beach of the island, surrounded by crystal waters and the ideal place to lie down to relax with a book and sunbathing. The beach is divided into two parts and is 3 miles long. Gorgeous Scilly Cay is another natural beauty of the island, a small island of coral and sand. There one can enjoy good rum with lobster and fish marinated in curry sauce, a delight for everyone. It is also the ideal place to do some snorkeling and swimming in the waters of the Caribbean or practice different water sports.
