A great way to enhance your Italian vacation is by immersing yourself into the Italian language. Many people don’t consider learning to speak Italian before going on vacation thinking it may be too much trouble to go through for the week or two they will be away. However for the many that do, find their trip much easier with the language barrier not being as high as if they knew no Italian at all.

Often learning a new language seems difficult but the many who have learned found it much less difficult then they thought. For myself I thought it would be fun to speak a different language but didn’t like the idea of sitting in the house listening to a CD and repeating the lines back. However since most cars have CD players it is very convenient to listen to in the car and since most of the sections on the CD’s were a little over 30 minutes I could listen and learn on my 40 minute drive back and forth to work.

I was a little concerned with trying to learn Italian at the age of 50 but found the CD’s very easy to comprehend and with the instructors not having an accent made it that much easier. My only regret is that I hadn’t given myself the time I think I should have had in preparing for my trip. I didn’t think about learning to speak Italian till we were about 6 weeks away from leaving. It could have been worse if there weren’t places on the internet where I could download the courses and burn CD’s of them instead of having to wait a week or so for them to arrive in the mail.

My feelings are if I had about three months to learn I would have been better off. Would I have been able to sit in a restaurant and listen to the people at the next table and know what they were saying, No! I would however been better at asking the question that tourists ask and understand peoples answers better. There still can be places where no matter how long you take lessons you won’t understand a word people are saying and it would mainly be older people speaking that areas dialect. In that case you would just have to ask someone else questions.

Even though Italian is spoken in all of Italy some places have a different dialect, which is not the same as an accent where maybe someone from Boston doesn’t understand everything someone from Mississippi may be saying. It has more to do with how words are pronounced and strung together, sometimes words can have a little different meaning. This is not much of a problem for the most part since the Italian school systems have been teaching one form of Italian for at least the past 30 years.

Learning to speak Italian doesn’t have to end once your vacation ends and you can keep learning after you are back home. For me it is easy to keep using Italian since I have many Italian friends who keep speaking Italian so they can keep in touch with friends and relatives back in Italy. I am not saying by the time I take another vacation to Italy I will be speaking like a native Italian but it will be more fun. If you are planning an Italian vacation consider learning to speak the Italian language, you will be surprised how easy it is to learn and fun to use when you are in Italy.

Live in a nice condo or cottage instead of a hotel. You get more space and more privacy, usually at a price well below hotel rates. Often you are not charged occupancy taxes, which can range as high as 20%.

But before you send in your credit card, ask a few questions about safety. Remember that rental property owners are not regulated the way hotels are. Your vacation can be spoiled and you can end up losing thousands of dollars… far more than you’d spend in a nice hotel.

If you are renting a condo, you need to be aware that you rent through an agency. You are not connected to the condominium. The property owner makes huge profits that are not shared with the condominium association or any of the homeowners. They won’t be thrilled to help you and you may want to ask yourself if you want to rent from an industry built on the model of, “Profit by harming your neighbors.”

Often the other owners and long-term renters simply resent your presence. After all, vacation rental properties lower their property values. It’s exhausting to have a revolving door of people coming and going. And some renters have never stayed in an apartment before. They do not know how to behave.

Nobody in the building knows you are there. And certainly nobody in the building has any responsibility – definitely no desire – to help you in an emergency.

- When the fire alarm goes off, will you know where the exits are? If you need help negotiating a stairway, who will help? For that matter, will you have a fire alarm?

- Does your vacation rental unit meet fire safety standards? One trade association proudly brags that they prevented at least one state from requiring sprinkler systems in vacation rental homes. Some locations have no regulations at all. Hotels must meet stringent safety standards – for a very good reason.

- Who do you call for emergencies? How far are they located from the place where you stay?

If your key doesn’t work in the lock, and it’s 2 AM, who will you call? How long will you stand on a cold dark sidewalk waiting for help?

If you fall ill, need to change a fuse or need to report a broken appliance or bathroom fixture, what kind of help will you get?

- Do you understand how to live in a city apartment? Can you stad up to strangers who try to push past you to get in? Are you prepared to tiptoe around in your socks because a building is not well-constructed? Your neighbors can call the police or a security guard when you make noise that would be normal in a house.

Traveling is something that most people want to include in their life at some point. The television and the Internet give us a glimpse into the many different places and cultures out there so that we can make a choice where we would like to go on a vacation. The biggest deciding factor when choosing a destination can be the amount of money we will need to make these trips, we do not want to have to take out a cash advance to pay for our travel, but rather, save the money over time.. In many ways, that fact alone and our timeline cam limit our choices. There are several ways to cut down on the costs of travel in order to get where you want to go much sooner than you ever thought possible. With stiff competition, there are many sales available and last-minute deals to destinations in off-peak seasons to save you a bundle. Once you know where you want to go, you can look around on the Internet for the best deals possible.

The first area to investigate on your budget travel search is airfare. The sooner you get your tickets, the better as advanced flight prices are substantially lower than if you buy right before you leave. If you book advanced flights more than 30 days away, you can save quite a bit of money. The same principle applies to hotel stays as they want to book their rooms early, so they offer them at a a discount way in advanbce. Combined with special pricing and travel sights that can find you the best deals, you can easily travel to your ultimate destination while also staying well within your budget. Research can help you as well as patience as you may have to wait out the deals and jump on them when the time comes. Either way, be realistic and prepare to make some small sacrifices to get to your destination.

When it comes to saving money on your vacation, the first place you should start is definitely your airline tickets. Indeed, it’s better to make sure that you are getting cheap tickets instead of spending the bulk of your vacation money on the transportation aspect. There’s nothing wrong with making sure that you are saving money appropriately; there are plenty of little tricks that you can use to get cheap flights just about anytime you want.

First and foremost, if you do nothing else, make sure that you give yourself plenty of time to look. Last minute travel deals are great, but you can also use those frequent flyer miles to good use. If you already have a rewards-based credit card, you may even have plenty of loyalty points that are just waiting to be spent. Remember that those points do expire, so it’s important to use them as soon as you can.

If you are pressed for time, you might want to see what type of last minute airline tickets you can pick up — the airlines don’t make money on empty seats, so there are discounts to be had if you can fill those seats.

Overall, these two tricks can be used to really save good money on your next flight — why not put these tips to good use today?

1. Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen. If you enjoy outdoor tourism and want to know a garden in the capital of Denmark … you’re in the wrong place! This “Garden” is really an amusement park entirely forgettable.

2. Disneyland Paris. Formerly known as “Disneyland” is a true example of a failed import. Do not waste your time on this complex child. Save for the ticket to Florida.

3. Promenade Gardens, Paris. Yes, the garden is large it worked as film set of “Before Sunset.” The balcony of your apartment is more interesting.

4. Natural History Museum, New York is one of the smallest museums in the world. I do not know which is worse, if replicas of indigenous or collection of leaves.

5. Absolut Icebar, Stockholm. A minimum setting, with ice sculptures embarrassing. The decor is depressing. They give no desire to get drunk there.

You’re warned! Do not waste time on these sites, unjustly held.

That is, some robberies product of economic recession and unemployment.

At least that is what confirms the ranking of the online travel community TripAdvisor. According to the latest listing portal, organized according to the opinions of tourists, Barcelona is the city where you have to take extra care when traveling due to the presence of pickpockets who take advantage of distractions to steal their passengers’ handbags and wallets.

The ranking was drawn from the number of times that users of TripAdvisor mentioned the term “pocket” in their views and comments.

This is how the following list was developed through which also warns that Spain is the country where most thefts seem to occur:

1. Barcelona
2. Rome
3. Paris
4. Madrid
5. Athens
6. Praga
7. Costa Blanca
8. Lisbon
9. Tenerife
10. London

It is certainly a challenge for any traveler. But all is not lost and there are hundreds of things you can do for fun and the trip fly by.

Caring for the physical part
Special care should be free from the circulation to the so-called “economy class syndrome”, which can cause thrombosis. By plane, bus or train is useful down the aisle from time to time and should not fall asleep with your legs crossed or limit the legroom with luggage. It is good to do little exercises of contraction and relaxation of the limbs. If we are traveling by car worth the same, except that every certain amount of time we should make a stop to get off and rest, walk around and if we can use for a snack.

Pregnant women, elderly, smokers, people with circulatory problems and who suffer from Chronic Obstructive Disease (COPD) or heart failure are the populations most at risk of DVT (Deep Vein Thrombosis) and should consult their doctor before traveling.

Tips for health care travel

If no contraindications, you can take an aspirin, anticoagulant beneficial for their power.

It’s good not to use hypnotic drugs or sleeping pills.

Use loose-fitting clothing, preferably natural fiber, in order to exert less pressure on the skin and facilitate ventilation.

Do not place bags under the seats that prevent stretch.

Take regular sips of water to avoid dehydration. The lack of liquid thickens the blood and increases the risk of blood clots. Avoid alcohol and coffee.

Do not keep your legs crossed while sitting.

In the same seat, you can stretch your arms and legs to avoid a “sleep.”

Make a simple exercise, like lifting your toes with energy and move his fingers for a few seconds, supporting the heel on the floor.

Every 1 to 2 hours, and if travel conditions permit, it does take a little walk.

If after making a long journey and watch an unusual persistent swelling in the legs, feel chest pain, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, go immediately to a hospital.

Accommodation in the plane
Before buying a ticket should apply the map of the plane to choose a good site. The front seats are quieter and more spacious, and near the emergency exits have more space still.

It is also important to consider the physical characteristics of each person and choose according to your needs, a person who does not usually get up from the window seat can choose not to be bothered by the motion of the hall and have some control and to cast a shadow in the window or enjoy the view, but if a person is very high, better choose aisle to stretch your legs. The contrary are the worst seats in the back row because they are resting and adjoin the kitchen.

By bus
As in the plane, the window seats are more relaxed and comfortable than the hallway. In the front is more difficult to get dizzy, besides being closer to the television, a key resource for getting bored. Two excellent sites are the front and the rear seat to the back door out: in the former can recline the seat as possible without disturbing anyone and subsequent table usually has a very practical. The back row is the worst because the seats do not recline. In the very long journey, you can opt for bus bunk.

Should avoid travel at peak times and dates of departure or arrival operations take longer because of the required hours can be maddening. It is advisable to eat light and drink plenty of fluids. Because you can not walk down the aisle, we must take special care to poor posture and stretching exercises.

By train
Traveling by train can walk along all the coaches, the cafeteria and enjoy the scenery. In this mode of transport are advised to take inflatable pillows, blankets or any other accessory that allows the seat padding.

Faced with the planes and buses, in trains is more common than not broadcast movies, which requires remembering to bring music, books, hobbies, or anything else that helps to get distracted. If the intention is to sleep, we must bear in mind that the rattle and the constant traffic of people walking down the hall is noisy. Therefore, should bring earplugs, choose seats away from the cafes and, if possible, opt for a sleeper.

By boat
The greatest risk of the boat is to get dizzy. To avoid this, it should be at the top, in the stern and center. You must eat little and not travel on an empty stomach or drink alcohol. If it’s hot, it’s always better to take the air to make do only with air conditioning. It is less likely to get dizzy sitting or lying down than standing and under no circumstances is to bend the body to the legs nor should stare at the waves or anything else that moves. Whether or read or power prevents dizziness is under constant debate, so each one must choose wise to their previous experiences. Finally, if you want to take any medications for seasickness, do it half hour before starting the journey, not the boat.

Killing boredom
Leaving the issue of health aside, let’s focus on the issue of how to entertain for a very long journey. Here are a few tips:

Read: Reading is always a good choice. Take at least two books, depending of course on how long wills the trip. Bring books that are easy and fun to read, so you engage in such a way that the time fly.

Listen to music: You can bring an iPod. It is a device easy to carry, simple to use and we can provide a very useful service as the amount of music you can store is quite large. In addition, today are quite affordable to buy.

Electronic games: With the iPod itself can also play, which is very entertaining at least for a while. There are a lot of games available, and apart from containing your iPod, you can take a lot of these games ready to play anytime, anywhere. There is also the option to play while listening to music.

Cards: If you are no friend of video games is always a good deck of cards, especially if two or more people traveling with you.

Audio books: Audio books are another possibility if we do not like being all the while concentrating on a book or on a screen. Simply we just have to rest, relax and listen.

Sudoku: Sudoku many people take on their travels. Take some that are difficult. Time passes quickly when you’re solving.

Write: You can take the opportunity to write about something. It can be an autobiography, articles for a publication or blog, or whatever you choose.

Watch a movie: In most long journeys, put at least one film. Are a few hours you’ll be entertained, while movie can do the above, see the landscape from the window or sleeping.

Spending time with the laptop: Many people decide to take your laptop and get the most, with which we, reading, listening to music, play, study, work, etc. The only thing to consider is that the battery is fully charged.

There are many things we can do on a long trip while we reached our destination. Only we have to organize time and activities to count in our favor.

In the commercial flights, there are often many magazines, which are usually full of ads and occasionally have very good articles. Take a look and you might be surprised.

Do not be too conservative with your seatmate. Since you share space has played for some time, a lively conversation could be ideal to pass the time quickly. Anyway, some people do not like to talk to strangers, and therefore must be respected.
